Prefixes and suffixes are pretty easy, but combining forms may throw you for a loop, so let's spend a little time on them.
A combining form is a word root plus a vowel. (The vowel is usually "o", but not always! I'll point out exceptions throughout the program.) We use combining forms to create compound words. Compound words are simply words that contain two or more word roots. The combining form simply allows us to create words that are easier to pronounce and understand.
There is a rule about combining forms - the combining vowel is used before another word root and before suffixes that begin with a consonant.
